Sharing details about the demolition drive, PWD Executive Engineer KK Singh said that people were given appropriate time for the same, while the demolition action is underway.

“This action has been continuously going on for two days,” he added.

ACP Atul Anjan Tripathi told ANI that the demolition drive was being carried out on a Waqf property, Musafir Khana.

“The relevant department has completed the legal process, and after giving sufficient time, the demolition action has been initiated today… Adequate force has been deployed. Barricading has been done to restrict people’s movement… Surveillance is also being maintained through drones,” Tripathi added.

According to reports, bulldozers had intensified demolition of the purchased properties on Sunday as well, with police tightening security on the Dalmandi street.

Earlier, the Dashaswamedh ACP informed that the PWD team had a list of nearly 45 buildings. He stated that on Sunday demolition at 25 buildings was completed, while announcements were made to begin work on the remaining 20.
